I'm in Rome now! Unfortunately my blogging is more than a month behind. I'm going to try and catch you all up as quickly as possible!
We spent a weekend in Olympia as part of a school-planned field trip. Anne Stewart was our school sponsored chaperone- which meant long-winded explanations and countless hours walking around ancient sites and museums. Not very exciting stuff. We were able to see Mycenae, Tiryns, Nauplio, Epidauros, and Olympia. Really nice hotels that provided wonderful dinners, lots of temples and theaters- the pictures are pretty self-explanatory. All this is the long way of saying I don’t have a lot to say. I’ll give you the couple notable events though.
We saw the Corinth Canal. It was pretty sweet. Looks very canal-like.
Jen’s birthday. To celebrate Jen’s 21st we got gelato. We also endeavored to find a dancing club/bar- rather unsuccessfully. We stayed in 2 different cities during the weekend and neither had anything to offer. We did however, take her to a bar and get her a couple drinks.
Nauplio is a beautiful city. Jen had a photoshoot with a couple of us there. Lovely colorful doors and beautiful seaside views. Some of our group also climbed to a fort that was apparently awesome.
And that pretty much wraps it up! I can now say I’ve been to the site of the original Olympic games and to a real Greek theater. yay.

The Corinth Canal. Note the funny water color. Don't ask me why it is that way. |
Mycenae. (I think) Mostly beautiful landscape. |
And more beautiful landscape. |
This is Tiryns (I think). |
The Greek theater and necessity #1: a view! |
More Greek theater. |
This was the view from our hotel room in Ancient Olympia. Pretty sweet. |
And this is the kind of thing we spent most of the weekend looking at. |
Olympia! |
